With Iron Paws wrapping up this week I was sad our pulling time was coming to end. Not any more. We learned about a new group called Wheel Dog League. Now we will continue to have all the motivation we need to hit the trails. We can earn titles and participate in challenges. We’ve logged our first few runs and earned our first badge

Every New Year’s morning we participate in the Running Room’s 5k Resolution Run…that is until this year. We decided to try and keep the tradition alive and do our own virtual resolution. Today is also the start of the 10th Annual Iron Paws Stage Race
Brodie was just happy to get out with us.
We did it! When I initially signed up for the Under Armour You VS 2020 challenge I never thought we would actually cover the 1020km. I was just using it for a goal to motivate me to get out with the dogs and move. Then came COVID-19 and everything changed. Getting out with the dogs was the only thing I could do. All dog sports were cancelled and social gatherings were prohibited. We ended up completing 2392km, more than doubling the goal of the challenge. We finished in the top 2% of the 322,797 people who registered.
I just signed up for 2021.
I haven’t been posting my updates regularly……blame it on COVID fatigue. My mileage has dropped this past month due to the cold, snow and icy sidewalks. I still walk most days, just not as far. It is hard to believe that my mileage is in the top 2% considering there are almost 315,000 people in the challenge.
In order to keep motivated to continue my daily workouts, a bunch of us joined My Virtual Mission to walk the 773km Camino de Santiago. I finished it today, two months early.
I still have my 2020km in 2020 challenge to keep me going for the rest of the year. I’m at 1500+km now with 4 months left
It looks like we are still on track to meet our updated goal of 2020km in 2020. We’ve moved up to the top 2%, not bad considering there are 270k participants.
We did it!!!! My wonderful four-legged partners and I completed the UnderArmour You vs 2020 Challenge 6 months early. 1020km in 182 days. Since I need goals to keep me focused I am going to try and complete 2020km by December 31st , that would average out to 5.5km/day 🤞🤞🤞
I can’t believe I hit the 800 km mark and I moved up into the top 4%. Baring any injuries (knock on wood), I looks like I should have no problem reaching the 1020KM mark by the end of the year.
On Monday I was over the moon excited when I was informed that one of my art quilts had been juried into the National Quilt Show. Just days later and our world has completely changed in a way that no one could have ever dreamed. Like so many events, there may not be a National show this year. We had almost every weekend booked between now and the end of June with dogs stuff. Sadly, almost everything has been outright cancelled and a few have been tentatively rescheduled. Almost every hour I get a new email from some organization talking about the virus and what they are doing. I’m just feeling sad and overwhelmed.
I woke up this morning feeling more like myself and ready to take on this new reality. Even though it was miserably cold I forced myself to go for a work out.
This is what 8km at -24C looks like. Take that Mother Nature and Coronavirus you aren’t going to win 😉😂
I am pretty happy with my mileage so far. At almost 300km, I am close to 1/3 of the way through the challenge in only 2 months. I’m also shocked to see that I am in the top 6% of the 131K people who have signed up for the challenge.
Well I have completed the first month of Under Armour’s challenge. Even though we had about 10 days straight of bitterly cold weather I still managed to exceed my goal of 100km a month. I was shocked to see that I am in the top 10%.
Call me crazy but I have registered for the Under Armour “You VS the Year 2020” challenge. Along with just over 53,000 others, my goal is to log 1022 miles this year. Only 361 days left and 1003.9 miles 😫🤣. On the positive side I am in the top 17%….yikes!
Yesterday was the first day of spring and the first day of the 100 by Summer Dog Walking Challenge. The idea is that between the 1st day of spring and the 1st day of summer you and your dog(s) walk 100 miles. This is the 4th annual challenge but the first one that we participating in. Day 1 finished and we logged 6.5km. There are still a few days left if you want to sign up.
