Back in 2011 I started collecting turquoise blue and brown fabrics for my Blue Odyssey Quilt.
I guess I went a little crazy and ended up with way too much fabric. As a result, I had hundreds of left over 1-3/8″ x 2-1/2″ pieces of fabric.
It took me a while to come up with a design to utilize these tiny pieces. I settled on this semi-diamond shape.
It was very fiddley and time consuming sewing each of these small pieces together to form fifty six 74″ long rows that were only 7/8″ wide finished. It was challenging to sew these thin rows together and keep everything aligned.
Here she is on the long arm getting an all over pantograph design.
I ended up using more than 1000 of the little rectangles on this quilt. I am embarrassed to admit that there are still tons left not to mention lots of 1-1/2 inch strips. I see another “Leftovers” quilt in my future.
Update: 2013DEC31
As a predicted there was more than enough fabric for a “Leftovers 2” and there might even be a “3” in the future since I still have lots of strips and rectangles left over. For more pictures and to read about the making of this quilt, please click here.
I really like this one…better than the original Odyssey Quilt actually….guess I am just Old fashioned…lol
