Urban Windows

When I first saw the quick curve ruler and all the amazing patterns that the ladies from  Sew Kind of Wonderful came up with,  I was smitten.  I even went so far as to purchase a pattern, the ruler and even fabric to make Urban Windows.  Then life got in the way and I forgot all about it.  After sitting for more than a year, I put it on my 3rd quarter FAL list in 2014 as my kick in the butt to stop procrastinating.  I actually started and finished it all within the quarter.

I was surprised at how quickly the blocks came together.  I’m used to working with much smaller pieces of fabric that take forever to form a single block….this was a nice change.  After all the blocks are finished you have to square them up which leaves you with a pretty pile of trimmings.

Once I had all the blocks finished I put them up on my design wall to find a layout that I liked.

Adding the sashing made the blocks shine even more.

It had a lot of fun quilting it.  I custom quilted each “window” with a different design and then I used a funky triple wave in the sashing.  I like all the texture that the quilting added.
