In 2015, after a two year hiatus, I decided to participate in QuiltEssential Co’s Block of the Month (BOM) program again. The 2015 theme was novels and I picked “Bridges of Madison County” which featured this pretty combination of tangerine/mango and grey prints.
In January 2016 I had these twelve finished blocks.
Months before we had finished our blocks I already had a design idea in my head to put these 12 blocks to work in a King size top. I had to wait until March when Quiltessential Co had their bolts of complementary fabrics available to purchase. By that time I was well into the 365 Quilt Challenge so these blocks were ignored for a year. Finally in 2017 I started piecing them together and then tackled the creative longarm process.
Here is the finished quilt:
My inspiration for the quilting came from some of the designs in the 12 blocks. I wish I had kept track of how long it took me to do the longarm work because it was substantial. I am really happy with the finished product.

I like using pieced backings on my quilts. I think it makes for a more attractive back that gives you the option to flip it over so you have two quilts in one.
