Kassidy’s Quilt

I saw this cheery flannel fabric in a quilt kit and fell in love with it.  It could be used for a boy or a girl.  I didn’t care for the pattern that was chosen for the kit but I ended up buying it because they didn’t have any more of these fabrics on the bolt.  The kit was for a queen size quilt so I should be able to finesse it into 3 twins by adding a few complementary fat quarters.  I completed the first one last fall – a rag quilt that I donated to a silent auction fund raiser for the Parkland Riding Club.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it finished.

This is the second one.  My cousin’s son just became a Dad on 2013MAY22 to a beautiful baby girl named Kassidy.  I guess that makes her my second cousin…twice removed.  I created a personalized label for it with a picture of Kassidy just minutes after birth.  I hope they like it.

I am trying to learn how to free motion quilt. I challenged myself to use FMQ designs that I had never tried before.  I settled on feathers and baptist fan.

I backed it with a solid white fabric.  I like the look of all the white on white FMQ designs on the back…it reminds me of a whole cloth quilt.
