Playing Tourist at home

We were so blessed to have my cousin and her husband come and visit us from Hungary.  I have never met anyone from my father’s side of the family so this visit was extra special.  She is an English teacher back home so communication was very easy.  They were only with us for 4 days so we had a jam packed schedule of things to see and do….but unfortunately Mother nature did not cooperate.  This past winter we had snowmaggedon, well this summer we’ve had non stop rainy, grey and dreary days.  We made the best of it.

The highlight of their visit was our whirlwind trip to Jasper.  We left the house at 6am and got back about 10pm.  Although there was heavy overcast and drizzle throughout the day, we were very blessed to get brief glimpses of the mountain tops.  We also got to see several grizzly and black bears, big horn sheep and of course lots of Elk.

Our first stop was Athabasca falls. With all the rain we have had in Alberta this year the power of the falls was stunning.

Then we hiked up towards Mount Edith Cavell to get a peak at Angel glacier.

For their last night we went to a revolving restaurant on top of a downtown hotel so that they could see the whole city and enjoy a delicious meal.  It was a short visit but a wonderful one.  I can’t wait until we meet again!!
