Meet Tilly

We had a lovely drive up to Cold Lake to meet the puppies.   When we got there the breeder said that she had a puppy in mind that she thought would be perfect for us.  She is from the first litter born on December 22nd and she is identified by the red collar.  She brought her out to us and of course it was love at first sight.  Look at that face…..is she not smoochable????

She has the cutest little sliver of a white patch on the bridge of her nose and on her forehead (which probably will go away as she matures….too bad!) and look at that white chin.  She is quite the little snuggle bunny and gives great french kisses.

We hope to go back to Cold Lake in a couple of weeks and bring her home.  Hopefully it will be perfect timing so that Chris and Michelle can meet her while they are here visiting us.

Cold Lake here we come…

Our trip to Cold Lake, to meet our breeder and her puppies, appears to be a go for this weekend.  We are just waiting for her to send us directions on how to get to her home.  She says that she had been keeping an eye out for the perfect little girl for us but gave no indication that she has made a decision yet.

I can almost smell that puppy breath now…….

Picture perfect Family Day

Wally, Tango, Hope, Garnet & Bentley

Our family day could not have been more perfect.  Gorgeous weather, the company of good friends and lots of dogs…..what more could you ask for.  We got together with Patty, Susan and David and all our dogs to celebrate Hope’s 2nd birthday and Tango’s 6th.  The dogs had a great run all around Patty’s acreage and then we all went inside to enjoy delicious baking courtesy of Patty.

At the end, each dog got their own individual birthday cake.  Considering that we had 5 dogs together, 2 of which are intact males, the day could not have gone better.

Bargello time

Check out these beautiful fabrics.  There are twenty different ones ranging from a beautiful tone on tone creamy white all the way up to a deep rich blue.  I am going to use them to make my first Bargello quilt using a pattern called Lightening Strikes.  Bargello’s are supposed to be great for beginner quilters because you just use strips sets and cut them up but when you’ve got 20 colours that you have to keep in order…..I think it will require a lot of checking and rechecking before cutting and sewing each strip set together.

I am supposed to be finishing the lady bug inspired quilt for my Chiropractor (as a retirement gift) but I am having  ‘quilters block’ trying to figure out how to free motion quilt a continuous line of ladybugs.    I’m going to take a break and just cut my strips for the Bargello and then come back and try and tackle the ladybugs again.

Our little girl is 7 weeks old

Our breeder sent new pictures today.  It looks like both litters get to play together now.  Aren’t they cute?????

We are allowed to go and visit them now.  We are planning for Feb 27th……I can hardly wait.

Happy Birthday Kangaroo

Today we are celebrating Tango’s 6th birthday.  She got bacon fat poured over her kibble for breakfast and then she was given a special rawhide bone. Tonight we are going out to Spruce Grove to do her favourite thing….practice her search skills.

This weekend we are going to get together with friends and their dogs to jointly celebrate Tango and Hope’s birthdays.

My rag quilt is finished!

I’ve finally finished the first quilt for me to enjoy.  Nothing fancy….just a pretty blue and brown rag quilt to curl up with in front of the boob-tube.  It is also the first time I’ve come up with my own quilt pattern.

Here is a close-up of one of the blocks:
